Andi Akpe, Film EditorAndi Akpe is not only one of 190 new students studying  at NYU Shanghai this semester, he's also a filmmaker who will be shooting, directing and editing video documentary footage of Shanghai and China all fall. Check out the second installment below, as Andi and fellow NYU Shanghai students take a trip to People's Square, listen to Latin Bolero music at Jz Night Club, make teapots at the Pottery Workshop, and more.  Below, Andi introduces us to his project and shares his first Double A Productions Shanghai video. >>>

Capturing the people and places that make my time here in Shanghai memorable in an episodic documentary film series is the goal of A Visual Taste of Shanghai. Shot with a Nikon D3100 DSLR camera, this peek into Shanghainese culture and the multitude of situations and guanxi (connections) that occur when foreigners enter the equation speaks toward the one main philosophy I hold to whenever I step behind my camera: All people have stories waiting to be told, be it my story, your story, our story…

In the short four-month span of time I have here in Shanghai, my mission is to collect these stories and to share them with you. Whether its through offering a glimpse into a China you never knew, or realizing a similarity between cultures that has always been there, this series is for all to enjoy, share, and learn from.

With that, enjoy!
