Andi Akpe, Film EditorAndi Akpe is creating video documentary footage of Shanghai and China all fall. Check out the third installment below, as Andi and fellow NYU Shanghai students travel to Gansu Province in Western China. They sing Justin Bieber tunes with Tibetan girls, admire yak butter sculpture at Labrang Monastery, ride camels, climb massive sand dunes at the edge of the Gobi Desert, and more.  Below, Andi introduces us to his project and shares his third Double A Productions Shanghai video. >>>

Capturing the people and places that make my time here in Shanghai and my travels throughout China memorable in an episodic documentary film series is the goal of A Visual Taste of Shanghai. Shot with a Nikon D3100 DSLR camera, this episode takes place in Gansu, a far-western province where where Tibetan, Mongolian and Chinese cultures blend against dramatic natural desert, grassland and mountain landscapes. Like all episodes of "A Visual Taste of Shanghai," this special travel episode speaks toward the one main philosophy I hold to whenever I step behind my camera: All people have stories waiting to be told, be it my story, your story, our story…

In the short four-month span of time I have here in China, my mission is to collect these stories and to share them with you. Whether its through offering a glimpse into a China you never knew, or realizing a similarity between cultures that has always been there, this series is for all to enjoy, share, and learn from.

With that, enjoy!
